At GroundUp, we are on a mission to enhance the quality of life in rural communities.

Through integrated programs, we focus on economic Empowerment, agricultural innovation, and community engagement to create opportunities and build capacities.

GRACE MUKUPA, PH.D, MBA President/CEO

Dr.Mukupa, with origins in Zambia and Zulu heritage, is profoundly shaped by the resilient women of her village, instilling in her a belief in the transformative power of education for social mobility and economic empowerment. Her life journey takes her across the globe, living in Zambia, Japan, Belgium, Tajikistan, Turkey, Macedonia, and the United States, enriching her perspective and deepening her commitment to community service, mentorship, and learning from diverse cultures.

Grace Mukupa earned her Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a master's in business administration from SUNY Oswego. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Tajikistan and a Peace Corps Volunteer in North Macedonia.

As a Senior Associate for Student Success at the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, Dr. Mukupa was pivotal in supporting 37 tribal colleges and universities. She serves on several boards, including the Fulbright Association National Capital, the Southern Connecticut State University Alumni Board, HERZ Movement, an initiative that showcases efforts to deliver sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions to girls in Zambia., EduTutorVA, Crystal City Pentagon Rotary Club, and the Margaret McNamara Education Grants at the World Bank.

Dr. Mukupa's life is a testament to the impact of perseverance, education, and the pursuit of justice. She is an active Rotary International and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. member. She enjoys immersing herself in new cultures and experiences, embodying the spirit of a true dreamer who cherishes life's simple pleasures.
